Preface#
👺 I interviewed for the animation TA position at Lilith this afternoon, and I was probably grilled for about an hour, from 2:30 to 3:30.
🥲 The other party was a young girl, and when she came in to greet me, I thought she was HR.
🫠 It wasn't until she introduced herself as the interviewer that I took another look at her; she seemed very young, a gentle-looking girl, but I've already forgotten what she looked like.
🤠 Thanks to "Houdinini" for the insights during this interview.
Process#
The content I can recall is roughly as follows:
Introduce yourself
Ask about the previous job content
What games do you usually play?
Level of mastery in IK
Level of mastery in state machines
Action masks and blending
How do you communicate and collaborate with planners and programmers?
What is your most satisfying achievement?
What is your level of mastery in DCC tools?
Do you have any sports hobbies? (Me: cycling)
If you were to develop a cycling game and you were the art lead, how would you plan the animation content?
Are you following any cutting-edge motion technologies?
How much do you know about UE's motion system?
If you were to rate your current level of mastery in UE on a scale from 0 to 1, where 1 means you can immediately take over a project, what score would you give yourself?
How much time do you think it would take to reach a score of 1?
What are your future plans?
I hope I can pass.

Follow-up#
I received the test questions; the task is to build a motion system for a sports game using UE4, but I currently don't know how to use UE 😓, I only know how to use Unity, sigh, I guess I'll have to learn it now.

I stayed up late last night until 4 AM and finished everything, packaged it, and submitted it to HR. After waking up today, I asked about the progress, and HR said they would give a response tomorrow. I scrolled through my social media, and HR looks quite pretty.
The test took a total of 10 days, with 4 days spent learning UE and 6 days completing the production, finishing a day earlier than the agreed delivery date, which was faster than I expected.
Today I played LOL mobile for a whole day, and in one match, we won even though two teammates were AFK.

I didn't pass, damn it. After the first submission, I received feedback, but the feedback was a bit absurd, asking me to change the initial direction of the bicycle to the camera's orientation. However, during the cycling process, the mouse clearly controls the camera's view, while the arrow keys control the bicycle's direction. This feedback is very counterintuitive, and I suspect the feedback provider has never played a cycling game. In the end, I made a mess of the changes, and after submitting, I still didn't pass. It's really abstract.
